Minutes of the meeting of 6/12/17
Meeting Opened at: 9am
Select Board Members Present: Steve Weisz, Chairperson, Carol Edelman and Kenneth Basler (arrived at 9:08am)
Miscellaneous Items Reviewed:
- The Board discussed the dissolution of contract letter received from Baystate Municipal Accounting. Steve is going to reach out to Baystate and see if they will contract for Treasurer and Accounting services for one year with the option to extend beyond that. Steve and Carol were in favor of using Baystate as none of the applicants for the position had the necessary municipal experience. Kenn opposed having Baystate perform both duties and felt that a Treasurer needed to be present in the office. It was agreed that once the financial records and procedures are in order, local applicants will be considered
- The Board discussed Tony Blair’s letter declining the offer to be Monterey’s Town Administrator. Kenn suggested giving the search a 6 month break and hire Peter Fohlin on a 6 month basis to examine current town operations, assist the Board in determining how a Town Administrator will best function in Monterey, and to mentor the Administrative Assistant for possible advancement to the position. Everyone agreed if Peter is amenable to this proposal. Kenn will reach out to Peter.
- The Board discussed the warrant articles for the upcoming June 30th special town meeting.
- Kenn provided an update on the current negotiations with the school committee and Egremont.
- Minutes from 5/31 & 6/7/17 were approved.
A motion was made and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at: 9:41am
